What’s the one thing that can slow down the constant perpetual motion of Ethan Hunt, IMF Agent? The coronavirus. Due to production halts because of the worldwide pandemic, the release dates of the two back-to-back Mission: Impossible sequels have been postponed. Mission: Impossible 7 is moving from July 2021 to November 2021, while M:I 8 has been bumped from August 2022 to November 2022. This news comes with delays of several other Paramount titles, including Dungeons and Dragons, Paw Patrol, and The Tomorrow War.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to wait even longer for the Mission: Impossible sequels release dates. Christopher McQuarrie is directing Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 back-to-back, but the production has had to shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. And as a result of that shutdown, the films have been shuffled to new release dates. Mission: Impossible 7, originally set to open July 21, 2021, will now arrive in theaters November 19, 2021. And Mission: Impossible 8, initially slated for August 5, 2022, is moving to November 4, 2022.
Tom Cruise is back, of course, joined by Mission: Impossible franchise cast members Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Vanessa Kirby. Newcomers to the series include Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, and Nicholas Hoult. And of all the recent movie delay news, this one might hit the hardest for me. I’m a big Mission: Impossible franchise fan, and I was very excited for these back-to-back sequels. But waiting longer for things is now the new normal, and I have to get used to it. [Source]

This year’s edition of the UK theater world’s Olivier Awards, which had been set for April 5 at Royal Albert Hall in London, has been canceled. Organizer the Society of London Theatre made the call Tuesday as the UK government ramped up its restrictions in the fight against coronavirus.
“Following the government’s new advice on social distancing yesterday, and the subsequent closing of many theatres and public venues, we no longer feel that it is feasible to host the ceremony that we had planned to deliver,” SOLT said in a statement today. It said all tickets would be refunded.
Organizers said they are working through plans “on how to properly honour and announce this year’s winners, and will release further information soon.”
This year’s nominees for the best of West End theater were announced March 3. James McAvoy, Andrew Scott, Wendell Pierce and Toby Jones were nominated for best actor, while Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Hayley Atwell, Juliet Stevenson and Sharon D Clarke were nominated for best actress.
The new musical & Juliet nabbed nine nominations, with Trevor Nunn’s Fiddler on the Roof securing eight and Dear Evan Hansen seven.
On Monday, the Society of London Theatre and U.K. Theatre said their member venues will close until further notice, including the National Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, the London Palladium, the Old Vic and the Royal Opera House. The Olivier’s home Royal Albert Hall previously announced it was closing until further notice.
In a press conference, British Prime Minister Johnson said people in the UK should start working from home, avoid non-essential travel and not visit public venues including theaters and pubs.
